Why do I need to make an appointment to try on wedding gowns?
We would love to have the bride experience the best service our bridal consultants can provide. If you wish to visit us immediately, please call ahead the same day so we may be able to accommodate your impromptu visit.

How long is my bridal appointment?
Bridal gown appointments are about one hour long. This allows you some time to discuss your ideas and specifications with our consultant. Most brides are able to try on over a dozen gowns. If you require more time, a weekday appointment is recommended.

Who should accompany me to my bridal appointment?
Bring your closest family members or friend whose opinions you value. We want you to experience the happiness of selecting your gown. Bringing more than three other people can take the spotlight off of you, adding stress and confusion.

What should I bring to prepare myself for the bridal appointment?
You are more than welcome to bring photos, magazines, your own undergarments and a pair of heels.

What size gowns do you offer?
The majority of our samples are the traditional bridal size 10. We also carry a great selection of smaller sizes and plus-size gowns.

May I take photos of the bridal gowns while I try them on?
We do not allow cameras in the fitting rooms prior to purchase. Once you have purchased your gown, you are more than welcome to take photos of yourself.

Can I complete my entire bridal ensemble in one appointment?
Of course, many of our brides want to complete their look as they purchase their bridal gown. Your consultation can include picking out the right veil and accessories that same day. Alternatively, brides can also do a follow up appointment to select accessories by trying on the sample gown or waiting for their special ordered gown to arrive *if time permits. (*Veils, headpieces, decorated sashes can take up to 3 months to arrive and some brides want those in advance to practice with their hair stylist.)

Should I get a sitter for my kids?
We love children, but a bridal salon from a child’s perspective is not a fun place to be. It’s advisable to get a sitter because the appointment is a time for you to focus and relax without distractions and additional noise for other brides.

Buying

How far in advance do I need to purchase my bridal gown?
Please allow 6-9 months before your wedding. Most companies offer rush cut at an additional fee.

What is the price range at House of Fashion?
Our formal wedding gowns are from $500 to $3,000. The majority of those wedding gowns are in the $1,000-$2,000 manufacturer’s suggested retail price range. Informal wedding gowns are in the $300 to $700 price range.
Our bridal party gowns and special occasion dresses are between $100-$800.

How do I pay for my gown?
We accept all major credit cards, as well as cash and *personal checks. (*Personal checks are accepted only for deposits, not final payment. We require 3 weeks for check approval). Our brides usually pay in full, however we can accept partial payment and the remaining balance is due by or when the gown arrives.

Fitting

When should I expect my order and begin alterations?
The gown is delivered to us from the manufacturer direct and we perform a quality control check on each gown before calling the bride. When you are notified you may make an appointment to try on your special order or begin alterations with our in-house alteration team. We recommend starting the alteration process 1-4 weeks prior to your event date.

What should I bring to my first fitting?
You should be prepared with undergarments, Spanx, shoes, and all other accessories so that the seamstress can provide you with the best service. We carry all of those types of items here and can assist you with choosing what you need to complete your look. Please allow 30 minutes to an hour for your initial alteration appointment, the follow-up and final fitting time varies. Usually brides require 2-4 fittings to complete that perfect look. After the final alterations, the gown is checked over and pressed before your pick-up appointment.

Do you offer any special packages?
We offer a discount in the alterations. When a bridal gown is purchased at the regular price with 3 or more bridal party gowns, we offer the bride a special rate of alterations of $200 for standard alterations; excluding custom changes and bustling of the train. Party members can enjoy a special rate of $48 +tax per person for all standard alterations and the pressing of the gown before your event. If no bridal gown is purchased, with a group order of 5 or more bridal party members we offer a special rate of $68 +tax per person for all standard alterations and the pressing of the gown before your event.

Do you accept outside alterations?
Yes, we can assist in making your dress, veil, or everyday wear fit properly. Any type of item can usually be accommodated, both men’s and women’s clothing. Please call and set up an appointment for an alteration quote.

Other

What if I’m not happy with my consultant?
We want your experience to be memorable and enjoyable. If you’re not bonding with your consultant, please ask to speak with Jen our store manager. We’ll make arrangements for you to work with someone else to make sure your experience is pleasurable.

I’m getting married in less than 4 months, is it too late to get a gown from you?
No, it is not too late and you have several options. We can always check with the manufacturer to see if your gown can be special ordered within your time frame, which could include an additional rush charge. Alternatively, we may have in the store the style and color you need-in which case you could buy the sample off the rack. We also have an OUTLET location that has a great selection of gowns to buy for those with time constraints.
